Matt Lincicum | Founding Partner

Matt partners with technology companies and entrepreneurs to identify, develop, and protect key intellectual property assets consistent with their business goals. He has extensive experience with domestic and foreign patent prosecution, strategic portfolio counseling, freedom-to-operate analyses, and patent-related due diligence.

Matt has prepared and prosecuted patent applications across a wide range of technologies, with particular expertise in medical devices and electronics. Within the medical device space, Matt has prepared and prosecuted applications relating to neurovascular devices, medical imaging (e.g., ultrasound, PET, endoscopic), intravascular delivery systems, surgical robotics, non-invasive neuromodulation, implantable stimulation devices, vascular access ports, and orthodontic devices. Matt also has experience developing IP relating to smart home devices, voice processing and control, memory management systems, capacitive touch sensors, analog electronics, and semiconductor fabrication.

Before co-founding Fortem IP, Matt worked as a patent attorney at Perkins Coie in Seattle and at Knobbe Martens in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Prior to law school, Matt conducted research in particle physics, nanofabrication, and computer-automated genomic analysis.

Matt’s interests outside the office include trying to keep up with his two young children (Phoebe and Silas), hiking, cryptocurrency, and golf.
